No, but students should be aware of CTEC’s continuing education requirement before submitting their New Preparer Application. That is, students who pass this 60-hour course then submit their CTEC application before 11/1/2011 will need to complete an additional 20-hour course by 10/31/2011 to satisfy CTEC's continuing education requirement. With this in mind, a nonworking student who passes the 60-hour course between 5/1/2011 and 10/31/2011 should consider waiting until 11/1/2011 to submit their CTEC application. Doing so would allow the student to postpone the continuing education requirement to 2012. After passing the 60-hour course, nonworking graduates have up to 18 months to submit their CTEC application.
