CTEC Information California Tax School has been approved by CTEC to offer Course 3055-CE-1003, Overview and Update of Tax Laws, which provides 14 hours of federal credit, 4 hours of state credit, and 2 hours of ethics credit towards the annual continuing education requirement imposed by the State of California. Prerequisites Before participating in this course, students must possess a valid CTEC registration number. Required Materials
Passing Score The open-book exam consists of 160 questions (multiple-choice and true-false) which are directly related to the assigned reading materials. A minimum score of 70% (112 correct answers) is required for successful course completion. 98% of our students pass the exam on their first attempt. Electronic CTEC Reporting Once it is determined that a student has scored 70% or higher on the final exam, that student’s file is forwarded to the course administrator who then accesses the State database and instantly credits that successful student’s CTEC account with 15 federal hours and 5 California hours. Test Review All students who submit the grading fee receive a review of their 160 test responses at the end of the course. Certificate of Completion A passing grade on the final exam would result in the immediate delivery of a certificate of completion. On their answer form, students will choose to have the certificate mailed, faxed, or emailed. If the email option is selected, the certificate of completion would be attached to the student’s test results as a color PDF file.
